Getting started with Uedu is simple:
For first-time use, your teacher identity must be verified via your school email, and the first course will be reviewed by the platform. Once the review is approved, you will become an approved teacher for courses under that instructor.
Courses in which your name already appears in the system (imported from the school's enrolment system)
Want to open a new Course or a self-directed learning course
Almost instant.
Not needed at all! Uedu works just as intuitively as an ordinary website.
You only need to:
The AI Teaching Assistant’s setup and technical configuration are completed automatically by the system; you do not need to learn any programming language or technical tool.
Uedu provides two complementary learning modes, allowing Instructors to use them flexibly according to teaching objectives:
Suitable for searching, clarifying concepts, and solving problems
Like ChatGPT, directly provides answers and explanations, suitable for students:
Students can upload a photo of the question, handwritten notes, or use a drawing board to write mathematical formulae to ask a question
💬 Dialogue example:
Student: What is photosynthesis?
UeduGPT: Photosynthesis is the process by which plants use light energy to convert carbon dioxide and water into glucose and oxygen...
➜ Provide the complete answer directlySuitable for deep thinking, knowledge construction, and critical thinking
Guided by questioning students construct knowledge themselves, suitable for:
Instructors can pre-design a series of guiding questions according to the teaching objectives. AI will, according to the Instructor’s design, guide Students step by step to think, without giving the answer directly, but instead enabling Students to reach the conclusion themselves.
💬 Dialogue example:
Student: What is photosynthesis?
AI: Before answering this question, I would like you to think: what materials do plants need to grow?
Student: Sunlight, water, carbon dioxide?
AI: Very good! So how do plants use these materials? What do you think will be produced?
➜ Guide students to build knowledge themselves through questioning| Characteristic | Open-ended Q&A | Socratic Dialogue |
|---|---|---|
| Answer style | Provide the answer directly | Guided questioning |
| Applicable contexts | Quick look-up, concept clarification | Deep learning, concept construction |
| Learning Objectives | Obtain information, solve problems | Critical thinking, knowledge construction |
| Interaction format | Free conversation + multimedia | Structured guidance |
| Designer | AI auto-response | Designed in advance by the Instructor |
Best used in combination in two complementary modes:
An account is required. After registering, you can enter the Course directly via the Course link.
The account registration and course use process is as follows:
You can adjust this yourself at any time.
Common adjustment requests include:
You can always manage the AI assistant settings yourself in the Teacher Console, including editing teaching instructions, adjusting the conversation style, uploading new teaching materials, and more; changes take effect immediately.
We support a range of common teaching material formats:
Course handouts, textbook chapters
Slides used in class
Course outline, study guide
Webpage link, video URL
Your teaching materials are well protected. Uedu provides two layers of protection: teaching material security and course privacy:
Courses not yet claimed by an Instructor are set to public by default, and any registered Student can join and use them.
Courses claimed or created by an Instructor are automatically set to private mode, and only the following Students may join:
Instructors can switch between public and private modes at any time in the Teacher Console, and can also regenerate the course code.
Yes, it is free for both instructors and students, with no hidden fees. Uedu is a non-profit integrated platform for academic research and teaching services, independently developed and operated by Assistant Professor Chia-Kai Chang.
This service is a non-profit academic research and teaching integration platform, not a commercial service; any adjustments to resources or services will be announced on the official website.
If you choose to take part in the research, we willcollect the following data anonymously:
Teachers participating in the study may receive the following additional support:
The latest AI dialogue technology, advanced analysis tools
Analysis of student learning outcomes, dialogue quality assessment
Opportunity to become a co-author of a research paper
Participate in AI teaching innovation seminars and workshops
Of course, there are absolutely no restrictions.
You can:
Yes! If the same teaching instructor is entered, an approved instructor mayset up multiple Courses, and does not need to wait for separate approval for each Course.
Each Course has:
No limit. Whether your course has 10 Students or 300 Students, it can be used.
10-30 people
30-100 people
100+ people
Uedu is suitable for almost every subject area. Teachers from a range of disciplines are already using it:
Programming, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science
Language education, literature, history, philosophy
Business management, marketing, finance, economics
Nursing, public health, medical ethics
The mathematics doodle board is an interactive tool designed for mathematical and scientific subjects, allowing Students to handwrite mathematical formulae and draw diagrams, and to converse with AI.
💡 Example of use:
Student handwriting:
∫(x² + 3x)dx = ?
AI response:
I see that you want the integral of x² + 3x. Let’s go step by step:
1. Do you know what the integral of x² is?
2. What about the integral of 3x?
If you arean Instructor, TA, or system administrator, your account can access students' personal data, including AI conversation records, Learning history, and Course activity statistics. To protect this sensitive data, the platform requires users in the above roles toenable two-factor authentication.

Don't worry, we provide multiple recovery methods to ensure you are never locked out of your account:
When 2FA is enabled, the system generates 10 one-time recovery codes. You can log in on the sign-in page by selecting "Use recovery code".
Request an Email reset on the login page. For security, the reset link has a 24-hour cooldown period and can only be used after it takes effect.
Contact the course instructor or platform administrator and ask them to reset 2FA for you in the admin console.
Most teachers do not need to configure anything. After logging in, you can use all AI features, including ClassroomGPT, AIDA and Worksheets; the platform has already provided a default Token quota for your Course (default model: GPT-5.6-luna).
Only if you want to use advanced models such as GPT-5.6-sol, or if you want more precise control over course usage costs, do you need to provide your own API Key on the Course Setup page; for normal teaching scenarios, the default quota is sufficient.
Uedu's Token expenditure is managed separately at the two levels of 'school' and 'platform', each with different usage rules:
Any school may have the school administration staff set a school-level API Key, or support its courses with internal funds; National Central University currently supports its students and staff with internal project funds.
Funded by donations from all sectors and managed for designated purposes under the National Central University Endowment Fund, enabling schools outside National Central University to use the platform; donations are still being sought at this stage, and the costs are mainly absorbed by the Uedu platform itself. This shortfall does not use Higher Education Sprout Project funding, nor is it funded by National Central University's internal budget.
Each school's budget, especially public-sector subsidies, has a legally prescribed purpose and may only be used for staff and students of that school; the platform's public-interest quota is specifically for schools that do not yet have school-level resources. By keeping accounts separately, each school's budget can pass audit, and the public-interest quota can focus on the schools and senior high school sector that need it most.
It is not a bill, and you will not be charged. This figure is a reference value provided by the Teacher Console for information transparency, to give you an idea of “how much resource AI conversation in this class is likely to consume”.
Reminder: in all situations below, the Uedu platform itself does not charge any fees; the table explains 'who bears the OpenAI Token cost'.
| Token source | Funder | The meaning of "estimated cost" to you |
|---|---|---|
| Default System default (National Central University courses only) | National Central University (on-campus project funding) | For reference only; you do not need to pay |
| Donation Uedu Public Welfare Token | Uedu public-interest quota (fundraising in progress; currently absorbed by the Uedu platform) | This is the amount paid on your behalf from the public-benefit quota; if you find it valuable, you are welcome to sponsor it or bring your own Key |
| Institutional Institutional Key | School administration unit | Reflects your institution's actual expenditure |
| Self-provided Course Key | Instructor | You will receive the OpenAI bill yourself; this figure is for estimation only |
According to OpenAI official pricing, converted by token counts for each model's inputs/outputs; actual bills may vary slightly due to factors such as Batch API discounts. Amounts are for teaching design and resource-planning reference only.
This means that your institution currently has no available Token quota. Any one of the following three solutions can restore service:
If your institution already has a Uedu institutional administrator (often the head of the IT unit or an academic affairs staff member), please ask them to sign in to /school-admin/〈your school code〉/api-keys and upload an OpenAI API Key themselves; the entire institution’s courses can share this Key.
Upload your own API Key in the 'Your own API Key' section on the Course Setup page (supports OpenAI/xAI/Anthropic); it will be used for that course only. Benefits: unlock advanced models such as GPT-5.6-sol, Grok and Claude, with costs fully under your control. See the question 'How do I bring my own API Key' below.
If your institution wishes to continue providing support through partner sponsorship, please inform your institution's project contact person or academic affairs office to uedu.tw/donate Learn about sponsorship channels (centrally managed by the National Central University endowment fund, with official tax-deductible receipts available), or contact [email protected] Discuss inter-institutional collaboration plans.
sk-.../xai-.../sk-ant-...); you can click "Test connection" first to check it is validAfter setup, the Teacher Console's "API Usage Statistics" will show the costs generated by this course using your Key, rankings of each Student's usage, model distribution, and more. It is easy to reconcile this with the billing in the OpenAI dashboard.
Thank you for being willing to support Uedu. At present, donations for the public-welfare quota are still being raised; usage costs from schools outside National Central University are mostly absorbed by the Uedu platform itself. Your donation will go directly towards this shortfall, enabling the platform to continue bringing services to more institutions outside National Central University, especially senior high schools and schools that do not yet have research funding.
All donations are managed centrally by the National Central University Endowment Fund, in compliance with Ministry of Education fundraising rules; after the donation is completed, National Central University issues an official donation receipt, which may be claimed as an itemised deduction in annual income tax filings.
優學院(Uedu)學術研究發表與推廣 (Uedu academic research publication and outreach)
The designated use for NCU campus fund receipts is uniformly labelled as "優學院(Uedu)學術研究發表與推廣" (Uedu academic research publication and outreach); Uedu then redistributes this resource internally across the following four areas:
Donations are entirely voluntary and are unrelated to usage rights; teachers and students who do not donate will not be restricted from using the system. Every contribution you make will be directly turned into more opportunities for learners to use the system.
If you are interested incorporate partnerships, major sponsorship, or school collaboration, please email [email protected] to discuss partnership models and matching donation uses with the project lead.
